Instructor Requirements.
Recruiting
Step 1.
A background in Education, Instruction, or Vehicle Operation
Pass an initial screening with our Lead Instructor
Complete an interview with our Operations Manager
Pass an in-car evaluation
Possess a clean driving record
Training
Step 2.
Complete 10-Year FBI Background Check & Drug Screening
Complete DOT Physical
Complete DMV Mandated 60-hour course, as well as Primo's own 40 hours intervention training.
Complete 3 months of cumulative training with trusted staff.
Become Licensed with the California DMV.
Continuing Excellence
Step 3.
Maintain a clean driving record, monitored via the DMV pull notice program.

As this business has grown from a one-person operation to one of the largest and most respected driving schools in Los Angeles, I have become more and more grateful for the team of people who make it possible. I truly believe that our driving instructors and customer service representatives are the best in the business. Their professionalism and dedication to helping others become safe drivers continues to inspire me to do all that I can to improve our ability to serve our community.
Dorothy Primack
Owner & Founder
In 2008, Mark and I were passengers in a deadly bus crash caused by a distracted driver. Since that time, we have done all that we can to help create the safest drivers in Los Angeles. It started with Mark as the only employee at Primo and eventually grew to the point where we bought our largest competitor - Westwood Driving School. Our vision has remained unwavering. We are so proud of the team that has joined us on this rewarding mission and are looking forward to many more years of helping people learn valuable skills that result in lifelong safe and enjoyable driving.
Brandon Cazares
Curriculum, Standards, & Training
After completing his BA in English at Fresno State University, Brandon trained under longtime driving instructors at AAA Driving School in San Diego. Years later, he moved to Bakker's Driving School, where he honed his ability to translate high level concepts into digestible ideas.

Brandon began his tenure at Primo as a highly requested instructor. Later he was promoted into a new role, heading our curriculum, standards & training.

Brandon is an expert on test preparation.
Carlos Perez
Instructor Manager
Even before earning his BS in Sociology from UC Irvine, Carlos worked as an educator with High School students for LAUSD. With a background in non-profit social work, Carlos brings an irreplaceable empathy to driving instruction that is so often missing when reflecting on the old cliches of driving instructors.

Carlos instructed at Primo for three years before being promoted into a management role. Now he assists his team in bringing them same excellence and professionalism to each lesson that he is known for.
Diamond Reed
Customer Care Coordinator
With a lifelong commitment to serving others, Diamond became a fixture on the Primo customer service team shortly after she joined. Diamond handles the oft complex nature and pace of customer service with grace, something she learned after getting her associates at the Art Institute in Baking & Pastries before immediately entering the hectic world of culinary arts.

Diamond coordinates the standards of our Customer Service team, and works tirelessly to facilitate shared ideas and methods to deliver our students and parents the best experience possible.
Jaelyn Jones
Customer Service Rep.
An invaluable member of our customer service team, Jaelyn gracefully guides students and parents through the process of deciding which services may be best for their learning needs.

A customer care expert, Jaelyn joined the Primo team after years of successfully assisting interested parties over the phone and in-person.
​
Jaelyn's perspective as a new driver also provides an incredibly authentic look at a students' journey. Her time behind the wheel with each of our instructors allows her to truly advise students on the best fit for them.
Mclean Ambrogio
Operations Manager
From the age of 11 years old Mclean was working at family businesses in a small town in New Jersey. He became enamored with the idea of fitting together traditional concepts and contemporary business practices. After earning his BS in Sociology from Thomas Edison University, he applied those values as the Brand Manager of Primo. Soon he was promoted to manage all of Primo's Operations.

Mclean has been a keynote speaker at the Driving School Association of the Americas conference, and passionately advocates for the modernization of the driving school industry through a "people-first" approach.
Amanda Nelson
Customer Service Representative
Amanda has been assisting customers in their driver's education since 1996 when she began as a customer service representative at Westwood Driving Schools, which joined Primo in 2018. Her years of expertise speak for themselves, with thousands of students enrolled and knowledge of the driving school industry that is second-to-none, she is one of the foundational members of Primo's team.

Andrew Soe
Licensed Driving Instructor
Master mechanic is not a term used lightly, but describes Andrew's talents most accurately. Working on vehicles his entire life, Andrew began instructing with the desire to learn as much about the people driving the cars as the cars themselves. Andrew is praised often by his students for his knowledge of real-world applications when it comes to safe driving skills. ​

Eddy Calderon
Licensed Driving Instructor
A lifelong Angeleno, Eddy has been working with or around vehicles for years. His understanding of vehicle dynamics, motion, and momentum is honed by years of instructing and riding motorcycles in the canyons of Malibu and the Pacific Palisades.

Byron brings a passion to instruction and a smile to work every single day. He is a light of positivity and endurance that shines in each lesson. Previously tasked with operating heavy machinery in the labyrinth that is LAX, Byron brings a very attuned sense of awareness to instructing.

Askari Frith
Licensed Driving Instructor
After a lifetime of teaching violin, Askari earned his BA in Music from California Institute of the Arts. After going through Primo's rigorous training program and becoming licensed with the DMV, Askari quickly distinguished himself as one of the top instructors in Los Angeles.

Chris Gutierrez

Davidson earned his cool, calm and collected demeanor as an EMT before instructing with Primo. He is a dedicated individual who's even keel is felt by students that often approach driving with an understandable angst. ​

My daughter took a series of six classes. The experience was excellent. They have their own cars which they drive to your house. The car has an extra break pedal in the passenger seat to the instructor can intervene if necessary. We were surprised that my daughter didn't have single instructor for all of the lessons, but there were advantages to that, because it's good to get a variety of input. My wife and I were delighted not to have to do the teaching ourselves!"

Dunbar Bradley Jr.

Dunbar gets constant praise for his warm demeanor and approachable attitude, something that he honed as a probation officer working with minors. Regis McNicholas
Licensed Driving Instructor
Regis has been instructing since the 80's, and is truly an expert in his craft. A lifelong learner, Regis always incorporates new techniques that work for students into his craft. His teaching skills are not only informed by decades of instruction, but also teaching guitar to people with specialized learning needs. His ability to adapt and develop lesson plans for each student creates an incredibly productive learning environment. ​
